So, we've been married for about a month and a few weeks. It is so nice to have all the wedding stuff done and behind us. We've been spending time settling in. I've tried to do a few organization projects and have actually succeeded in doing so which has been nice. When we got married we promised ourselves we would not be packrats and that we would try to keep things clean. We purged our stuff individually before we moved and collectively after we moved. We planned for storage space and got more bookshelves when we needed it. A few bookshelves from Walmart or Target do wonders!
Advice to all people getting married: If you don't want clutter, PLAN FOR NO CLUTTER!!! I know a lot of couples told us that you will accumulate more than your little newlywed nest can handle. But so far, we have been successful! Trust me, if you purge your stuff before you combine it and after you combine it, you will succeed! And don't keep wedding gifts you can't use. Trust me, if it has a gift receipt, and even if it doesn't, and you aren't going to use it, take it back and get something you will! The gift giver would likely want you to have something you are going to use than something that would sit in the closet taking up space and collecting dust. And if you can't take it back, give it to someone who will use it! We did both and did wonders for us!!!
